Oklahoma DUI Cases

Oklahoma DUI arrests trigger two separate cases: First, there is the Oklahoma DUI criminal case, where a variety of criminal punishments can be imposed by the court in the event of a guilty verdict. These punishments may include fines, jail, mandatory alcohol education, ignition interlock devices order etc. Second, is a civil action against that person's Oklahoma driving privileges involving the Department of Public Safety (DPS). Oklahoma DUI cases therefore, have two separate components, and each must be addressed separately.

Oklahoma DUI and Blood Alcohol Content

Driving under the influence (DUI) commonly referred to as "Oklahoma Drunk Driving", describes operating a motor vehicle while one's blood alcohol content (BAC) is above the legal limit set by Oklahoma statute. State statutes vary as to what that level is, but it ranges from .08 to .10 for adults, which means a 8/100ths to one-tenth of one percent by weight of alcohol to the weight of blood.  For more information regarding Oklahoma DUI  and BAC statutes, contact an Oklahoma City DUI Attorney at our law firm.
